30 Ways to 30- #1

Margaret Chaney

So I have entered the last two months of my 20's.

I am pretty stoked. I have always wanted to do whatever my sisters do, and they have all been 30. Well not Kara, she is still 29, so it will be sad to not be the same age as her anymore.

In the spirit of a new decade, I am issuing myself a challenge:

to write 30 Blogs on the Ways I am "getting to" 30 years old.

Its pretty bad. I have been wanting to write this blog post for 2 days now.  I have been wanting to blog more for 2 months now. Most of the time I get lucky and the pressure makes me more creative, but overall its not a good way to operate your own small biz.

Also, for giggles and baby cuteness, I am inserting a short picture explanation of my 20s...(.And yes, I realize it could be considered procrastination to have spent time compiling this)

20- I moved home from Montana, went from "teen mom" to "single mom". Trace was diagnosed with cerebral palsy a month after my birthday. I also plucked my eyebrows wayyyy too thin.

21- I remember the EPIC 21st bday at Silverjack (oh yeah, who remembers that place?!) Also, apparently no one had told me about my eyebrows yet.

22- One of my very best friends passed away, taking a piece of my heart with him. I learned to carry a piece of his with me. Every day.

23- The Bridges adventure began! This job has resulted in some awesome opportunities. I cannot imagine my life without all of the people who have come into it because of my time there. Also - this happened.

(These party people, are my sisters, the ones I want to be just like when I grow up)

24- My brother David turned 30 and we had an epic sibling trip to Anguilla! We were young, hot and knew it all. Thats it.

25- The year I fell in LOVE with fashion. Also, the year I got my heart really broken. (but not by fashion, because fashion is a forever kind of love).

26- This year! - I started MagSoul just before my 26th birthday. My life has been forever changed from that single feather hair clip!

(oh happy 4th bday MagSoul, I must have procrastinated right past my business birthday)

27- I was absolutely certain I knew it all! I rang in my bday with my BFF in Austin, and ended the year with the BIG MOVE to NC.

Oh, and me all the Motown besties went to Vegas for LJ's big bday. No one managed to get a pic of all of us together, but somehow got this one. Ps, I am certain that isn't my purse.

(Seriously, whose purse do I have?)

28- Figured out once again, that I did NOT know it all. Fell down a few times, picked self back up several more. "Me and mine" both celebrated and mourned a lot this year. But this precious munchkin was born, officially making him my favorite (and coincidentally only) nephew:

29- Oh hey, yeah, I have learned my lesson. I am making solid decisions. I am absolutely certain, once again, that I know it all. No wait, I know nothing.....What do I know?.... Well, what do YOU know?.... Who told you that?... Is this mic on?

But, seriously, after this year, I know how incredibly blessed I am with my support system. You all are what got Trace and I through, and we are so excited to have the surgery behind us, and the recovery road getting shorter in front of us.

#1- done and done- xoxo Mags

  • I love your blog, Margaret. Growing older gracefully has become your fashion. I am so thankful for all the memories and blessings I’ve made this past year with you and Trace. You are both very special to me. Love, Mama
